Outreach News  – Four Young Men, Robbers & Bikers

A few weeks ago we met a young man (around 13 yrs old) who was walking by our pavilion. Harold chatted with him for a minute and invited him to come back sometime and bring his friends.

A couple Sundays ago he came back with three other boys around his age. We asked them if they would like to stay and hear a story. One made a cell phone call to his dad and they sat down (petting our dog Vader of course).

The four of them sat there as Harold told the Bible on Felt Board story (Jesus Walking on the Water in the Storm) and I preached the PowerPoint sermon on “Seeing Jesus.” It was great! Kids that age are so smart and open.

We told them if they came back knowing the 12 disciples’ names, we would give them each a prize. We had some prizes left over from Father’s day.

Last Sunday, we packed up our equipment — our program is largely based around PowerPoint, a projector, amplifier, computer and other audio/video helps — only to discover that some of our audio/visual equipment had been stolen from the back of our truck. So, we quickly adjusted our plans –we would place folders with Christian materials on cars and go ahead with our Bible on Felt Board story (Conversion of Paul).

We also worked on adjusting our (upset) attitude, with the help of Phillipians 3:8, “Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.” Though losing some “stuff”, we retain possession of our faith in Christ, as we peacefully replace the stolen items.

We were also pleased to notice that the city is working to make major improvements around our pavilion. They are routing a major bike path right past our preaching, hooray for Jesus.

Thanks to all who partner with us in prayer,

Harold & Therese

  • Gary D:

I love reading about the details of all these things. Praise God.

  • Thanks Gary D,

We are very grateful for all your prayers and encouragement.

You never know what God will do once you get out there — what an adventure!
