Latest News: Winds of Change

The winds of evangelism are blowing through Bee Creek Park and we feel thrilled and privileged to just be there.  This week approximately 20 people received ministry, ranging in age from toddler to senior citizens.

Among the adults, we met a Christian woman who recently moved here from Houston and has no transportation to get around CS, an elderly Asian man who speaks very little English, a former church attendee who currently struggles with drinking and a lady who found our packet in her home. Highway and byway stuff!

Running a program that appeals to both children and adults is a fun challenge, a sort of oversized family devotions. The boisterous teen boys and shy teen girls are equally challenging as we seek to point them to Jesus as their Lord and Savior. The, ‘tweens’ are a delight as they are always the last to leave and often ask amazing questions.

One such question this week (from a girl around 10 or 11) was, “Did Jesus’ whole body ascend back to Heaven, or was it just His spirit?” Apparently, she’s a future theologian! One adult (the Houston lady) is already helping the kids at the craft table. We just stand and see what the Lord is doing.

In light of this apparent move of God, Harold and I had been seriously considering doubling our efforts by adding a Saturday program at the park. As a confirmation, two young ladies asked us (this week) if we would please come on Saturdays as well as Sundays.

So, here is the big news and restructure of our ministry (for the present) we will forgo the week-night bible school classes and concentrate on the park outreach. This was a difficult decision because we believe deeply in bible school and the value of every believer having a verse by verse knowledge of the entire bible.

However, the Holy Spirit seems to be blowing through the park and we must follow Him. In the years to come, if we meet one or two very hungry believers (or that little theologian is still around), we will start the bible classes again. Till then, we will concentrate on Saturday and Sunday programs at the park as well as visitation.

As ever, we covet your prayers as we labor in so white a harvest.
